Declare a Climate Emergencey

We the undersigned ask Lincolnshire County Council to declare a Climate Emergency and to address this crisis at emergency speed. We call upon you, our elected representatives to declare a Climate Emergency in the County Of Lincolnshire. We face a Climate Emergency, with a recent Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report quoting that we have less than 12 years in which to act or a chain of events will be triggered leading to irreversible climatic changes. A Climate Breakdown is the most accurate way to describe what is happening. We, individually, cannot do enough to avoid this crisis or to safeguard the future of our children on this planet. We need the government, starting at local level, to follow through with the necessary resources and action to fully address the crisis at emergency speed.

This is in direct response to the findings of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report ‘Global warming of 1.5°’ published on 8 October 2018. The council should pledge to become carbon neutral by 2030 and end investment in polluting industries and technology.
