Dear fellow residents

Nettleham Parish Council, are deeply committed to lobbying to ensure the safety and well-being of pedestrians in our community. The A46 roundabout, a critical traffic junction connecting major routes, has become a cause for concern due to the lack of safe pedestrian / cycle crossings. Pedestrians and Cyclists face significant risks while navigating this busy intersection especially during peak hours.

The Current Situation:
1. High Traffic Volume: The A46 roundabout experiences heavy vehicular traffic throughout the day. Unfortunately, this also means that pedestrians encounter challenges when attempting to cross the road safely.

2. Risk to Pedestrians and Cyclists : Crossing the roundabout without a designated safe crossing poses a serious risk to safety. Vehicles often move swiftly, leaving little time for pedestrians to cross safely.

3. Accessibility Issues: Elderly residents, children, and people with disabilities find it particularly challenging to navigate the roundabout. The absence of proper crossings exacerbates their difficulties.

We urge Lincolnshire County Councill to take action to address this pressing issue.

Our petition seeks the following:
1. Pedestrian / Cyclist Crossings: Install well-marked pedestrian crossings at strategic points around the A46 roundabout. These crossings should prioritize safety and convenience for all Pedestrians/Cyclists .

2. Traffic Calming Measures: Implement speed reduction measures near pedestrian crossings to ensure that vehicles slow down and yield to those on foot.

3. Improved Signage: Clearly indicate pedestrian/cycle routes and safe crossing points. Adequate signage will enhance awareness among both pedestrians and drivers.
